Managing Business Hours in the Nexkey Web Portal
Business Hours will give you the ability to have your door automatically unlock itself and stayed unlock on a schedule that you set. This article will walk you through the steps to create and manage any schedules that you create.
Creating A Business Hours Schedule
- Open a web browser, navigate to the Nexkey Web portal and log into your account.
- Click KEYS on the left-side panel and select your Nexkey Controller
- Click Business Hours in the section below next to "Activity"
- Click the
button to create a new schedule. A new window will appear.
- Give your schedule a name at the top
- Select the days of the week that you'd like to have your schedule enabled. Any days that are filled in GREEN will be active.
- Set the time that you'd like. By default, the portal will show 9am - 5pm.
- First-In will be enabled by default, however if you don't want that enabled, you may disable it and click
to save the schedule.
First-In Business Hours - Explained
First-In keeps your door secure at the start of each business day by requiring someone to unlock it before it automatically unlocks. When creating a new Business Hours schedule, this will always be enabled by default. You may toggle it OFF if you would prefer the door to automatically unlock on its own.
What is the Grace Period?
Unlocking the door during the grace period confirms that someone is onsite. The door will then automatically unlock at the scheduled start time.
If no one unlocks the door within the grace period, it will remain locked after the start time, preventing unauthorized access. Business hours officially begin with the first unlock.
What are First-In Designated Users?
First-In Users start Business Hours by unlocking within the grace period. Owners and Admins are First-In users by default. During Business Hours, First-In users can re-lock and unlock the door and choose to either resume the schedule or keep it unlocked until a specified time.
If a non–First-In user unlocks the door during the grace period, Business Hours won’t start, and the door will re-lock shortly after.
Managing First-In Business Hours
- While in the Business Hours schedule creation screen, set your desired grace period, from 1 to 60 minutes.
- Next, click
to save the schedule.
- Take a look at the "First-In" column under the Access List at the top-right corner. Anyone with a USER role will have an editable toggle next to their name which you can click to enable or disable that role.
- You're all set and ready to manage your door!
